From the Same Soul
Each of us holds a love story. Some souls carry each other across lifetimes to tell it.

I grew up in a world where we do not talk about feelings. Where desire was something you reined in, identity was something you inherited, and love was something you were grateful for even when it didn’t quite fit. I am Singaporean. I am Malay. I grew up understanding, without anyone needing to spell it out, that some things were simply not spoken.
And then something happened that I couldn’t not speak about.
I won’t tell you everything here — that’s what the novel is for, and the novel is still being written, because stories from the heart always take longer than you think they should. What I will tell you is that it involved a connection I had no framework for. That the person was a woman, and that there was twenty-one years between us, and that none of those facts were the most extraordinary thing about what passed between us.
The most extraordinary thing was that it felt like remembering.
From the Same Soul — the website and the novel — was built from my life experience and from everything that broke open in me. It is for women who are in the middle of something they don’t have language for yet. Something that arrived without asking permission. A desire they weren’t expecting. A connection that doesn’t fit the picture. A version of themselves that has been quietly waiting for the right conditions to surface.
You will find here writing about love that doesn’t require a label. About the soul connections that arrive through spiritual spaces and refuse to behave like ordinary attraction. About what it means to discover something true about your desires later than the world told you you should. About writing the story you most need to tell, even when you are still living it.
I do not have the answers. I am a character in an unfinished novel. I am, if anything, deeply unqualified to tell you how this ends.
But I am very interested in the conversation. And if you are reading this, I suspect you are too.
Where this story began
The story behind the novel is the reason this site exists. From the Same Soul is a novel in progress — being written alongside everything this site is becoming. It is the questions I explored that made this space necessary.
